1.

bop about this crescent
that is santorini
taking lunch in firo stefani
a walk along her promontory
in the biting wind
sending ocean clouds up & over
in revealing shades

church domes
church domes
everywhere
blue on white
with bells rung in between

we skip about
out to the lighthouse
the end of the world it would seem
lava dropping into the aegean
frozen in place
ghosts of toothy islands far to the east
where odysseus once weathered

rambling past tavernas &
fish houses
we kick about old akrotiri
waltz up the lazy boulevards
beneath the kastro
old stony venetian fortress
all to ourselves
the landscape stretched out before us
the island
the land
the sea

down past the cubic houses
for a siesta of coffee
bread
garlic spread
salad & cheese
town square laid before us
wisteria supreme
down to white beach we venture
romp about with a dog which
nips our heels

the sea
the sea
ever rolling
lonesome &
grey

head back overland
getting lost below fira
on broken vourvoulos roads
windmills & wineries & the open sea
the road will not go through
wind it up and around through clifffside towns
making it back to oia
for late afternoon coffee & orange cakes

niko comes to visit
with the afternoon wind
we feed her ham &
milk
the sky an alabaster white like the houses

angelic
in between

lighthouse at the end of the world
blue aegean ever on
jagged teeth of some volcanic ruin
floats out to sea
cut with haze
&
waves

wind whistles out blue window
clouds roll in from the south
white capped cliffs over dark black lava
cats & dogs roam these crooked streets
